How much can you save in taxes by participating in cafeteria/flex and transit and parking plans?
To figure out how much you can save in federal taxes if you set aside a portion of your salary on a pretax basis to pay for insurance benefits, health FSA benefits and/or DCAP benefits under the cafeteria/flex plan, and/or to pay for transit and parking benefits under the transit plan, you can use a handy Tax Savings Calculator that we've licensed from the Employee Benefits Institute of America LLC.
- The Tax Savings Calculator will also show you whether you save more in federal taxes by electing DCAP benefits and paying for them with pretax salary reductions, or by claiming the Dependent Care Tax Credit.
- System Requirements: The Tax Savings Calculator requires an Internet browser and the Macromedia Flash 6 plug-in or higher, which is already installed on most systems. When you launch the Tax Savings Calculator, you will be prompted to download the plug-in if it's not already installed on your computer.
